Completion of a compulsory traineeship with the province of Salzburg and/or the Office of the Salzburg Provincial Government

General information

The compulsory traineeship is intended to give the trainees the opportunity to complement their theoretical education and become familiar with professional reality and/or to put into practice in a real-world business environment the professional competences they have acquired. The practical activity has to correspond to the educational purposes of the educational establishment or study regulations concerned.

The compulsory traineeship can be completed not only during holidays but also - by agreement - at any time throughout the year.

Requirements

- relevant training regulations (e.g. curricula, study plan) stipulate a compulsory traineeship;
- physical and mental aptitude;
- EU nationality;
- good knowledge of German.

Required documents

- written application with CV;
birth certificate;
proof of citizenship;
- confirmation from the educational institution that a traineeship is compulsory under the relevant regulations;
- Information on duration and extent (e.g. 4 weeks; 20 hours per week).

Desired: Indication of desired place of employment.

Procedure

The written application is to be sent to the Human Resources Department. Once the documents have been checked, the relevant department will contact the applicant.

Costs and fees

There are no administrative fees.

Deadlines

The traineeship may only be started after the traineeship agreement has been concluded.

Legal bases

Salzburger Landesbediensteten-Gehaltsgesetz (but only by analogy)

Means of redress or appeal

There is no entitlement to a traineeship.

Further information

The traineeship does not constitute an employment relationship with the province of Salzburg. While trainees are not subject to any orders, they must follow the general in-house rules and applicable safety regulations. Therefore, they are not due any regular remuneration either. However, it may be agreed to grant an allowance.

Trainees who are not paid an allowance are not registered for compulsory insurance. These trainees must prove that they have accident and health insurance cover before starting their traineeship.

If a trainee is granted an allowance that exceeds the marginal earnings threshold (2020: EUR 460.66 per month) they will have to be registered for full comprehensive insurance (health, accident and pension insurance). If the allowance does not exceed the marginal earnings threshold, they will generally have to be registered only for accident insurance.
